The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert, warning of impending heavy to very heavy rain in Himachal Pradesh over the next two days.
A large landslide in Kullu district, Himachal Pradesh today destroyed many houses. Images of the landslide showed multiple multi-storey buildings collapsing, leaving behind a huge trail of dust and debris.Emergency response teams, such as the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and the National Disaster Response Force (SDRF), have been deployed to rescue people trapped in the landslide.

Minister Sukhvinder Singh of Himachal Pradesh said: “Disturbing images have emerged of Anni, Kullu, depicting a huge commercial building collapsing in the midst of a terrifying landslide. It should be noted that authorities have identified the risk and attempted to evacuate the building two days earlier.”
Hundreds of vehicles were stuck on the damaged Kullu-Mandi highway today following heavy rain in the district.”The road connecting Kullu and Mandi was damaged. An alternative route through Pandoh was also damaged. As a result, traffic was temporarily halted.
