Las Vegas shooting: Video shows music fans duck gunfire, run for cover

Pop, pop, pop, pop…the rapid staccato of machine gunfire pierced the night sky above Las Vegas Strip. Hundreds of country music fans attending the Route 91 Harvest Festival cowered in fear of the unknown. It was chaos all around as people ran away from the sound of bullets pumping from an automatic. A brief lull in the firing helped a few regain composure and run towards safety.
Eyewitnesses later said they initially thought they heard the sound of fireworks going off. However, flashes from the muzzle of a firearm made them realise the gravity of the situation.
The three-day festival saw musicians such as Lee Brice, Jake Brown and Kane Brown among others performing in front of a packed audience. On the final day of the festival, country music singer Jason Aldean was in the middle of his set when he hears the sound of gunfire. He abruptly ends his performance and runs off the stage. Later, in an Instagram post, the singer described the night’s events as “beyond horrific”.
“Tonight has been beyond horrific. I still dont know what to say but wanted to let everyone know that Me and my Crew are safe,” Aldean wrote.
