Lionel Messi’s move to Saudi Arabia for the next season is a ‘done deal’: Reports
Paris Saint Germain star forward Lionel Messi’s deal to Saudi Arabia next season is done according to the reports.
“Messi is a done deal. He will play in Saudi Arabia next season,” AFP quoted a source saying. “The contract is exceptional. It’s huge. We are just finalising some small details,” the source further added.
Earlier this week Messi was suspended PSG for an unauthorized trip to Saudi Arabia, however, Messi shared a video on his social media apologising to the club and supporters, saying he is waiting for what the club wants to do with him.
According to reports, Messi has received a formal offer to join Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal next season with a contract renewal at PSG not on the cards for the World Cup winner who turns 36 next month.
However, when Al Hilal coach Ramon Diaz refused to be drawn on claims the Saudi Arabian club is attempting to sign Lionel Messi.
When asked about it after a game said, “Now we’re focused on the game,” said Diaz, whose side was held to a 1-1 draw in the first leg in Riyadh last week. “We have the final and after the final, we’ll see what’s going to happen.”
The oil-rich nation appointed Messi its tourism ambassador last year and he visited Jeddah in May 2022. He returned in January to play a friendly match with PSG against a team of Saudi League stars, when he faced great rival Criano Ronaldo.
