Maha records over 2K new Covid cases

Maharashtra recorded 2,831 Covid-19 daily infections on Tuesday, while there was a marginal increase in the daily cases in Mumbai from 192 to 235 during the last 24 hours.

A day after the state recorded 1,966 cases, the number of daily cases went up to 2,831. With the fresh infections, the total number of Covid-19 cases in the state rose from 78,44,915 to 78,47,746.

With 35 fresh deaths, the total number of deaths registered in the state since the outbreak of Covid-19 in the state in March 2020 went up from 1,43,416 to 1,43,451.

Mumbai, where the daily infections have been dropping steadily for more than two weeks now, witnessed a rise in the number of cases from 192 to 235. With the latest cases, the total number of cases in Mumbai mounted from 10,54,242 to 10,54,477. While the recovery rate stood static at 98 per cent, the overall growth rate of Copvid-19 cases in the metropolis for a period from February 6 and 13 stood at 0.04 per cent.As 8,695 Covid-19 patients were discharged from the hospitals across the state after full recovery, the total number of people discharged from the hospitals since the second week of March 2020 increased from 76,61,077 to 10,54,477. The recovery rate in the state rose from 97.66 per cent to 97.73 per cent.

The number of “active cases” in the state dropped from 36,447 to e 30,547. The fatality rate in the state stood static at 1.82 per cent.

The active cases in Pune dropped to 8802. The active cases in Mumbai dropped from 2513 on Monday to 2301 on Tuesday, while the number of active cases in the neighbouring Thane dropped from 1973 on Monday to 1756

Nagpur accounted for 2890 active cases, followed by Ahmednagar (2596), Nashik (1352) and Aurangabad (1238).
