Maya hits out at Bhagwat’s DNA statement

Attacking Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh chief Mohan Bhagwat over his statement that the DNA of all Indians, irrespective of their religious faith, were the same, Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati said that his utterance was like ‘Muh mein Ram, bagal mein chhuri’ (double faced).

At an event, ‘Hindustan First Hindustani Best’, organised by Muslim Rashtriya Manch in Ghaziabad on Sunday, Bhagwat had said that the DNA of all Indians was the same and those asking Muslims to leave the country could not call themselves Hindus. In a statement issued in Lucknow on Monday, Mayawati said that Bhagwat’s statement was like cursing the country’s politics by terming it divisive which was not right.

“There is a sea of difference between the words and deeds of the Sangh and Bharatiya Janata Party. They talk about the same DNA of people of all religions in India but the people will not be fooled easily as they have deciphered the real face of the RSS and BJP and their governments. States in which there are BJP governments, including the Centre and Uttar Pradesh, are mostly following the confined agenda of the RSS instead of following the true intent of the Indian Constitution,” she alleged. Mayawati said that the existence of the BJP depended on the cooperation and support of the RSS but it was baffling why had the Sangh not been able to get its thoughts and words implemented by the saffron party and their governments.

“The BJP is spinning conversion as a major issue for electoral gains. If forcible conversion is indeed taking place, then the accused should be punished and not the entire Muslim community. The BSP has always been opposing the policies of BJP and the RSS. There is an atmosphere of chaos in Uttar Pradesh today,” she charged. Earlier on Monday, Mayawati tweeted over the controversy related to the purchase of Rafael fighter jets and asked the BJP to clarify the recent controversy. The French government has recently ordered a probe into the Rafale fighter jet sale to India after the role of middlemen brokering the deal cropped up.
