Mayawati continues tirade against SP

Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati continued her tirade against the Samajwadi Party on Thursday after several suspended MLAs met SP president Akhilesh Yadav in Lucknow on Tuesday.

“The SP is in such a terrible condition that the MLAs who have now been expelled from the BSP are being asked to join the cycle party by Akhilesh himself just to remain in the media,” Mayawati said.
Taking to Twitter on Thursday, the BSP chief said: “The condition of the SP has become so bad that in order to remain in the media, even former MLAs and small workers who have become ineffective and expelled from BSP are being called by its chief himself.”

In the next tweet, she added, “It seems that the SP chief is no longer having faith in his local leaders.”
On Wednesday too, the BSP supremo had lambasted the SP for trying to portray a split in the BSP.
The expelled BSP MLAs in question are Hakim Lal Bind, Vandana Singh, Ramveer Upadhyay, Anil Kumar Singh, Aslam Rayani, Aslam Ali, Mujtaba Siddiqui, Hargovind Bhargava and Sushma Patel. They were expelled ahead of the Rajya Sabha polls in October 2020 as they were accused of collaborating with the SP in a bid to defeat BSP candidate Ramji Gautam.

On Tuesday, at least five suspended MLAs met Akhilesh Yadav, triggering speculations that they might join his party. Aslam Raini had said that the rebels would form a new party ahead of the 2022 assembly elections.
