Monsoon session is going to start in Parliament from today. In the all-party meeting called last evening, the opposition parties demanded PM Modi’s statement on the situation in Manipur. Apart from this, there has been talk of discussion in Parliament on the issues of inflation including the Odisha train accident, the situation on the Indo-China border, the attack on the federal structure. Apart from this, the opposition has also become vocal on the Women’s Reservation Bill. On the other hand, the government has appealed to the opposition parties to cooperate in running the proceedings of the house smoothly and said that it is ready to discuss every issue according to the rules.
Rajnath presided over the meeting
Here Union Minister Rajnath Singh presided over the all-party meeting in which 44 leaders of 34 parties were present. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Prahlad Joshi said that the opposition put forward many important suggestions in the meeting. The government is ready to discuss all other issues, including the status of Manipur, in Parliament under rules and procedures. We are ready to discuss the time fixed by the Speaker of the Lok Sabha and the Chairman of the Rajya Sabha.
Congress demands discussion on Manipur
After the meeting, Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhary has said that we should discuss the situation in Manipur during the monsoon session of Parliament. The Prime Minister should come to the house and give a statement. Two months are passing but the Prime Minister is silent on this issue. Chaudhary said that we attended the meeting of the Business Advisory Committee of the Lok Sabha and raised all the issues that needed to be discussed. BJD raised the issue of Women’s Reservation Bill
Here, on behalf of the Biju Janata Dal, Rajya Sabha member Sasmit Patra has demanded the passage of the Women’s Reservation Bill in this session. Which was also supported by many parties in the meeting. YSR Congress, Bharat Rashtra Samithi and the Left supported the BJD’s resolution. On the other hand, Harsimrat Kaur Badal of Shiromani Akali Dal said that the work of the House should go on so that people’s money is not wasted.
