Patients to get Remdesivir for free in hospitals: CM

What should come as a great relief to critical Corona patients across the state, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced that patients in state-run and private hospitals would be provided and administered anti-viral Remdesivir injections free of cost.

“Although this injection in private hospitals will be arranged by respective managements by purchasing them from the companies and the market, but if this medicine is not available and it is very necessary for the survival of a patient, then on the basis of the hospital prescription, the district magistrates and chief medical officers can provide a limited number of injections for free to needy patients,” a government spokesman said in Lucknow on Monday. An order to this effect was issued by the Department of Health and Family Welfare.

During a review meeting, the chief minister said that there was no shortage of any life saving medicine like Remedisvir in the state and effective steps were being initiated to increase the supply of life saving rugs. Also before providing Remdesivir, do the specified and required tests. Medical colleges across the state will also purchase Remdesivir from its own resources,” he told officers.

Daily requirements of vials of Remdesivir will be provided to L-2 hospitals.
