Recovery rate in UP goes above 90 per cent, 8,737 fresh Covid cases detected
With a significant decline in the number of fresh coronavirus cases, the recovery rate has gone above 90 per cent even as Uttar Pradesh witnessed 8,737 new cases during the past 24 hours while 255 patients lost their lives.
Additional Chief Secretary, Health, Amit Mohan Prasad said here on Tuesday that the recovery rate in the state is continuously increasing.
In the last 24 hours, only 8,737 new infections were detected whereas till April 30, this figure used to be above 30,000. There has also been a drop of 56 per cent in the active cases while the recovery rate has gone up to 90.60 per cent, he said, adding that the positivity rate has come down to 3.2 per cent. In the last 24 hours, 23,045 patients recovered.
Prasad said that the government’s focus has shifted to vaccination. So far, the first dose of vaccine has been given to 1,19,42,983 people. Since Monday, the vaccination drive has been going on for people above 18 years in 23 districts.
The second dose of vaccine has also been given to 32,81,544 people in the state. Till now, vaccine doses have been given to 5,27,193 people aged between 18 and 45 years.
Additional Chief Secretary, Information, Navneet Sehgal said there is no shortage of medical oxygen, beds and medicines in the state. More than 300 plants producing oxygen from the air are being set up in the state, he said.
Along with this, 2.30 crore ration card-holders will be given free ration in the state from May 20. The workers of organised and unorganised sectors in the state will also be given a financial assistance of Rs 1,000 each every month.
