Samsung Galaxy J4 2018 leaks in the form of live pictures

Samsung is planning to launch not less than four new Galaxy J series smartphones this month. One of them will be the Galaxy J4 (2018), which is believed to be the cheapest of the four models. The device appeared for the first time in February when it got listed on Geekbench’s device benchmark, revealing some of its specifications.

Now, the smartphone has appeared at Taiwan’s NCC certification website, suggesting Samsung plans to launch the Galaxy J4 (2018) sometime soon. The NCC listing reveals the specifications of the budget smartphone and also comes with a handful of live pictures showing the entry-level device. The Galaxy J4 (2018) is expected to come powered by Samsung’s own Exynos quad-core processor clocked at 1.4GHz. It is expected to launch with 2GB of RAM and option for either 8GB or 16GB of internal storage.

The hands-on pictures leaked today show that there is a single-lens camera stacked vertically along with an LED flash. Other features listed by NCC include dual-SIM support and Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box. It also features a 3.5mm audio jack and supports connectivity options like Bluetooth, WiFi and LTE.

The Taiwanese telecom regulatory authority lists another mid-range smartphone in the J series called Galaxy J6 (2018) and is expected to launch alongside the Galaxy J4 (2018) model. The pictures first spotted by NashvilleChatterClass show that Samsung is sticking with the same design language with huge visible bezels for its 2018 Galaxy J series as well.

The Galaxy J4 (2018) and Galaxy J6 (2016) are expected to launch in India as well. These smartphones in the Galaxy J series continue to drive volume for the South Korean company in the emerging markets. However, it has been facing pressure from Chinese smartphone brands like Xiaomi, Oppo and Vivo.

In India, Samsung has lost its leadership position to Xiaomi and has been losing market share against its Chinese rival in the market. Samsung needs to do a major rejig to its product portfolio in order to drive volume and regain its market share. These devices look like minor steps in that direction.
