Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, who was sentenced to 50 months behind bars earlier this month, will spend roughly three years in federal prison. Combs, who was found guilty on two counts of interstate prostitution, is likely to be released May 8, 2028, NBC News, citing Federal Bureau of Prisons records.
Spent more than a year in jail before sentencing
The 55-year-old had been detained since his arrest in September 2024 and the nearly one year he served while he waited for his trial will be reduced from the 50 months he has been sentenced to.

Charges against Diddy
Diddy’s eight-week trial ended with a jury finding him guilty of transportation to engage in prostitution but he was acquitted of the more serious charges. While Combs was acquitted of sex trafficking and racketeering, the judge said he considered Combs’ hory of violence against women in calculating the sentence.

Combs’ sex crimes trial involved testimony from 34 witnesses.They included Combs’ ex-girlfriends Cassie and Jane, who said he forced them into drug-fueled sex marathons, a sex worker they knew as “The Punisher,” personal assants who said they witnessed violence, and other women who accused him of abuse.“Why did it happen so long?” U.S. Drict Judge Arun Subramanian asked as he handed down the sentence. “Because you had the power and the resources to keep it going, and because you weren’t caught.”While prosecutors sought a sentence of more than 11 years, his lawyers wanted him freed immediately and said the time behind bars has already forced his remorse and sobriety.
What defence lawyers argued
Before the sentencing, Combs wept as his defense lawyers played a video portraying his family life, career and philanthropy, and he went on to make a plea for leniency.“I ask your honor for a chance to be a father again,” Combs said, “a son again … a leader in my community again … for a chance to get the help that I desperately need to be a better person.”
He also apologised to the people he hurt physically and mentally with his “disgusting, shameful” actions, and said the domestic violence was a burden he would carry for the rest of his life.
