Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan celebrates his 60th birthday today. Fans and colleagues have flooded social media with heartfelt wishes for ‘King Khan’. Reports also suggest that the title of his upcoming film with director Siddharth Anand is expected to be unveiled later today.Story continues below this ad
Shah Rukh Khan made his acting debut with the television show Fauji. He followed it up with a few more shows and TV films, including Circus. He went on to make his big screen debut with Raj Kanwar’s Deewana in 1992. But it was Abbas-Mustan’s Baazigar and Yash Chopra’s Darr in 1993 that gave him a breakthrough. Shah Rukh rose to superstardom in 1995 with the horic success of Aditya Chopra’s Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge. This was followed more blockbusters like Karan Johar’s Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, Yash Chopra’s Dil To Pagal Hai and Veer Zaara, Nikkhil Advani’s Kal Ho Naa Ho. Shah Rukh even turned producer, along with co-star Juhi Chawla and director Aziz Mirz, as their new banner Dreamz Unlimited backed films like Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani. Farah Khan’s Main Hoon Na was the first film released under Shah Rukh’s current banner Red Chillies Entertainment. Shah Rukh also earned critical acclaim with films like Swades and Chak De! India.

After delivering several hits across decades, Shah Rukh’s acting career encountered a lull after 2016. He took a sabbatical after the debacle of Zero in 2018. Shah Rukh returned with much fanfare and subsequent unprecedented success with Pathaan and Jawan in 2023. His next film, reportedly titled King, is slated to release in cinemas next year.
