‘She’s gone’: Man recounts horror of watching wife get buried in Nepal flood mud
Catastrophic flash floods and mudslides have swept through Nepal’s Rasuwa drict near the Tibet border, leaving over 160 people dead and hundreds missing. The search-and-rescue teams airlifted several survivors to safety, including Keshav Prasad Baral. However, the agency later revised its assessment, stating that the event was a magnitude 5.2 glacial collapse. It sent debris downstream, which triggered the deadly flooding. The floods in Nepal’s Rasuwa drict, bordering Tibet, wreaked havoc, sweeping away villages and damaging roads and infrastructure.“The Lhende Khola has flooded twice in 14 months, this time triggered an ice rock avalanche from a glacier on the Nepal side that blocked the river and released a sudden surge downstream,” Saswata Sanyal, a disaster risk reduction special at the climate research group, told Associated Press.Nepal PM on floods:“The pain and loss you have suffered is not small.
