‘Players are desperate to learn things from him, I’m quite lucky’, ‘Bilkul!’: Ruturaj Gaikwad and Yashasvi Jaiswal gush over MS Dhoni

The sight of MS Dhoni being swarmed with young players, asking questions at the end of games has been part of the IPL phenomenon for a while now.
Ruturaj Gaikwad and Yashasvi Jaiswal are no different. The two India top order batters, who are part of the current India squad in the Caribbean, shared their thoughts on the former India skipper in a recent BCCI video.

“When I first met sir…. I don’t have a lot of words to say. When you meet someone who you have been watching since childhood, you get goosebumps. I almost instantly said, ‘Namaste Sir.’ It’s just a blessing to see him. Still I’m losing words to be honest,” said Jaiswal.
Gaikwad – the CSK opener – said, “I feel I’m very lucky and fortunate to be able to spend time with him. I always see so many players go and talk to him post-games. They’re desperate to get to learn things from him or just to have a chat with him. And then I think I’m quite lucky that I can speak to him every day for those two months. And whenever I need anything, he’s available for me through the year. He has been a major factor in my career. In my upbringing. On how to stay ground. Performances will keep on fluctuating, that’s basic.”
“Bilkul! (Absolutely)” Jaiswal would respond to Gaikwad suggesting he was fortunate to play in the same team as Dhoni.

Both Jaiswal and Gaikwad were among the top 10 run getters in the recently concluded IPL season.
