Supreme Court pulls up CBSE for different NEET question papers
NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Thursday expressed its dissatisfaction to Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) for setting different questions for students taking National Eligibility and Entrance Test (NEET) in regional languages.
The apex court also remarked that there should be a common question paper for all NEET examinations.
The board has found itself in a fix over the regional papers of NEET 2017 examinations conducted on May 7, 2017. There have been allegations that most of the regional language papers were difficult than the English and Hindi papers.
Earlier, on July 15, the apex court had declined to “nullify” NEET examinations, as it would affect over six lakh candidates who have passed the test to join professional courses.
“It would be very difficult to disturb the results of NEET as around 6.11 lakh candidates, out of a total of 11.35 lakh aspirants, have cleared it and the counselling process was on,” a three-judge Bench headed by Justice Dipak Misra said.
The court had also refused to accept the submission of a counsel appearing for some students that the level of difficulty of questions set in regional and English were different, and the exams need to be conducted afresh.
