Trump says US and EU have ‘good chance’ of reaching trade deal | World News
US President Donald Trump said on Sunday that there is a “good chance” the United States and the European Union will reach a trade agreement.
Speaking at the start of a meeting with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen at his golf resort in Turnberry, Scotland, Trump said that a few key issues still needed to be resolved.
“We’ve got three or four main sticking points,” Trump said, according to Reuters. “The main one is fairness especially around cars and agriculture.”

Trump has often raised concerns about EU trade policies that he says limit American exports.
European Commission President Von der Leyen, speaking before the talks, said the chances of reaching a deal were “50-50” and added that any agreement would need to be based on fairness and rebalancing trade between the two sides.
She described Trump as a “tough negotiator and dealmaker,” and said that if they reached an agreement, “it would be the biggest deal either of us has ever concluded,” Reuters reported.
Negotiations between US and EU officials have been ongoing, with both sides trying to avoid additional tariffs. More details from the meeting are expected soon.
