UP CM ordered COVID-19 vaccine for age 18 and above
In pursuance of the order of the Centre to start vaccination of 18+ youth, Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath has ordered to procure 50 lakhs doses of Covishield and Covaxine each , from the manufacturing companies. The Covishield vaccine is manufactured by Serum Institute of India and Covaxin is manufactured by Bharat Biotech Limited.
Chief Minister has said that the government will run the immunisation programme with its own resources. He has asked the Department of Health to conduct the vaccination campaign on a wide scale. Not only this, the State Government has also instructed the Department of Health to make arrangements for the supply after assessing the need of the dose.
Along with this, the Chief Minister has given directions to increase the vaccination centers in the state. At the same time, the program of vaccination will also be conducted in the multi-national companies and offices in the state.
To prevent the spread of infection, the government has decided to ensure second dose of vaccination at a rapid pace to those who are already inoculated with the first dose. For this, the government is now arranging to set up camp in the open space area so that people do not fear infection.
It is worth mentioning that for the last several days people were cynical about getting infected during vaccinations in hospitals, after which the state government has taken this decision.
To curb the infection, the immunisation programme is going on at a rapid pace in the state. So far, a total of 1,17,77,209 vaccine doses have been given in the state. This includes the first dose of a total of 97,79, 846 vaccines and as many as 19,97, 363 second doses administered in the state.
Dr. RK Dhiman, Director, Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS), said, “we can avoid hospitalisation by getting vaccinated. Not only this, the death rate also decreases due to vaccination. In such a situation, it is very important for us to get the vaccination done”. Speaking from his personal experience, Dhiman told, “my wife and I had become COVID negative just three days before the Holi festival. But the infection was mild and did not have much effect on us.”
