UP records 3,278 fresh Covid cases, 188 deaths

Uttar Pradesh recorded 3,278 fresh Covid cases in the past 24 hours while 188 patients succumbed to the deadly virus infection. Besides, 3,47,821 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours, of which 1,60,000 samples were tested through RT-PCR.

Additional Chief Secretary, Health, Amit Mohan Prasad said 6,995 patients recovered in the last 24 hours. Gorakhpur topped the list of districts with maximum cases at 206 while Lucknow’s death count at 15 was the highest, followed by that of Meerut and Farrukhabad at 14 each.

Prasad said the recovery rate has increased to 95.40 per cent while the positivity rate is 1.1 per cent. “The total number of active cases in the state has come down to 58,270, which is 81.26 per cent less than our peak of April 30,” he said.

He said 1,36,81,405 people have been administered the first dose of vaccine in the state so far while 33,93,753 have been fully vaccinated.
