Virat Kohli or Rohit Sharma? Kagiso Rabada names the best ODI batsman in world
South African pacer Kagiso Rabada is considered one of the best fast bowlers in the world at the moment. The speedster is a part of the Proteas T20I squad which will take on India in a three-match series beginning September 15. Rabada will be looking to trouble the Indian batsmen with his brute pace and ability to deliver a consistent line. Ahead of the series, the South African star has named the best batsman in ODIs.
While Steve Smith might have restamped his authority as one of the best in Tests with his stunning return in the ongoing Ashes 2019, Rabada has no doubts that Indian captain Virat Kohli is the best when it comes to white-ball cricket. Smith has been enjoying a dream run in the Ashes having already slammed 671 runs in just five innings at a staggering average of 134.20. He also toppled Kohli to take the No.1 spot in the Test batsman rankings but Kohli remains ahead in the fifty-over format where he still sits on top.
“Virat Kohli has proven that he is the best batsman in white-ball format. He is already regarded as a great of the game with some pedigree,” Rabada told PTI. Kohli and Rabada apart from meeting on the international stage, have enjoyed some fierce battles in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The South African had called Kohli immature and described him as someone who can’t take abuse when hit back at, during the IPL.
Kohli had responded by stating that he considered Rabada a world-class bowler. The duo is certainly on top of their respective games and it will be an interesting battle to watch when they meet in the T20I series. Ahead of the series, Rabada revealed how he plans to stop Kohli in his own backyard. “I think Kohli is a fighter and at the end of the day, we would like to go and express ourselves and not have any fear. Have fun, play hard and just enjoy the battle with the world’s best batter,” Rabada said.
Kohli is heading into the series on the back of a tremendous outing against West Indies where he was in fine form in ODIsm slamming two back-to-back centuries to inspire India to a series whitewash.
