US President Donald Trump on Monday offered to join the proposed Russia-Ukraine talks in Turkey which is scheduled for later this week as the European countries are pushing the Kremlin to accept a 30-day ceasefire with Kyiv.ARTICLE CONTINUES BELOW VIDEO
Trump spoke about his prospects of visiting Turkey a day after Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that he would travel to anbul, where the talks have been scheduled, and would wait to meet his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin.
Trump said that talks in anbul could be helpful in attaining a ceasefire between Russia-Ukraine and he might join the delegation as he would be in the region. The Republican president is scheduled to visit Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Qatar this week.
Ukraine has always supported diplomacy. I am ready to come to Türkiye. Unfortunately, the world still has not received a clear response from Russia to the numerous proposals for a ceasefire.

“I’ve got so many meetings, but I was thinking about actually flying over there. There’s a possibility of it, I guess, if I think things can happen, but we’ve got to get it done,” Trump said before departing for his second foreign trip since he returned to White House in January.

Trump further added “Don’t underestimate Thursday in Turkey.” During his election campaigning for the 2024 US presidential election, Trump had said that he would mediate and end the Russia-Ukraine war as soon as he takes office, while the US tried to mediate to end the hostilities, the efforts haven’t produced significant results.
Zelenskyy, in his video address on Monday said, attacks the Russian military haven’t stopped and the Kremlin hasn’t responded to his calls whether Putin would meet him in Turkey later this week for a proposed talk.
“Russian shelling and assaults continue. Moscow has remained silent all day regarding the proposal for a direct meeting. A very strange silence,” Zelenskyy said, Reuters reported.
Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan and Zelenskyy discussed the proposed talks which the Ukrainian leader says “may help end the war.” Erdogan said that the talks are a new window of opportunity which was not to be squandered.
