US President Donald Trump’s nominee to be the top American general in Europe has said he believes Ukraine can win the war against Russia.
“I think Ukraine can win,” Air Force Lieutenant General Alexus Grynkewich told a Senate confirmation hearing, according to Reuters.
He added, “I think any time your own homeland is threatened, you fight with a tenacity that’s difficult for us to conceive of.”

Poland’s foreign miner Radosław Sikorski also said the focus should be on helping Ukraine stop Russia’s attack.
“We believe that preventing Russia from winning, from doing what Vladimir Putin has just reasserted three days ago that he wants all of Ukraine this is a doable job, and this is what we should focus on,” Sikorski said, as reported Reuters.
Denmark’s Prime Miner Mette Frederiksen said she did not think peace would return soon.
“There are still too many people believing or dreaming that it will end, maybe with a ceasefire or peace agreement, and then we will return to the good old days with peace in Europe. And I’m sorry to say, I don’t think that’s the case,” she said.Story continues below this ad
She added, “The uncertainty we look at now is also the future, and because of that, rearming Europe is for me the number one priority.”
Separately, Trump posted what he said was a congratulatory message from NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte. The message praised Trump’s action in Iran and said, “It was not easy but we’ve got them all signed onto 5 percent.”
