Why Friday’s bank strike doesn’t mean all banks will remain closed

you were losing your sleep over important banking work in the wake of reports that banks would remain closed due to strikes and holidays, you can perhaps heave a sigh of relief — at least for now. It was earlier reported that banking operations across the country will be affected on Friday due to a day-long strike called by a bank officers’ association — the All India Bank Officers Confederation (AIBOC).

While the strike hasn’t been called off, bank employees — including non-PSU banks — not affiliated to the association are expected to work as usual.

Bank holidays and strikes are likely to affect banking operations in the next six days. While the AIBOC has called for a day-long strike on December 21, banks will remain closed on December 22 (the fourth Saturday of the month). December 23 is a Sunday (so another holiday). December 24 (Monday), however, is a working day and will provide a small window for carrying out transactionst. The next day, December 25, is a holiday on account of Christmas.
