Yogi Sarkar’s Elan, gold medal winner at Olympics will give Rs 6 crore

Noida: Yogi Adityanath Sarkar of Uttar Pradesh, on the lines of Haryana, announced Thursday a grant of Rs 6 crore for the state’s Olympic gold medal winner. Uttar Pradesh Sports Minister Chetan Chauhan, here, Kabaddi League team announced this on the occasion of the launch of the UP Warrior’s Jersey.

Chouhan said on this occasion that the UPA Government will award Rs. 6 crore to the Olympic medal winner of the Olympics, Rs. 4 crore to the silver medalist and Rs. 2 crore for the bronze medalist. With this, Chauhan said that Rs 50 lakhs will be given to the gold medalists of Uttar Pradesh, who won gold medals in the Commonwealth and Asian Games this year, Rs. 30 lakhs to the silver medalists and Rs. 20 lakhs for the bronze medalist.

He said that the cash award will be given to the players by organizing a grand function in Lucknow on October 2. The Sports Minister said that 44 players from the state participated in the 18th Asian Games held in Indonesia, out of which 11 have won medals. They said that the players who took part in these games but could not win the medal would also be given Rs 5 lakh each for participation. In the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games, UP players won 7 medals and on this occasion they will also be given cash prizes.

Chauhan also announced that the players who won the state medal would be given the government job of Claus-2. But the graduation of the player is mandatory. If the player is not a graduate, he will be given 4 years to earn a bachelor’s degree. He announced a pension of Rs 20,000 per month to those retired international players who have won medals at international level and received Dronacharya, Arjun, Dhyanchand and state sports awards.
