30 Bottles of Branded Liquor Worth Rs 1.75L Seized at Bilaspur Station
Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh: The cases of drug transportation through railways is increasing these days. Along with ganja, liquor is also being transported illegally in trains. Upon such information, a joint team of RPF and GRP seized 30 bottles of branded liquor from Chhatisgarh’s Bilaspur station. The bottles were found in the Hirakud Express and they were being carried two men. The estimated cost of the branded liquor is almost 1 lakh 75 thousand rupees. A case has been regered against the two accused under the Excise Act.
The matter is of Monday morning. The Liquor smuggling was reported in Hirakud Express going from Amritsar to Visakhapatnam. As soon as this information was received, the RPF and GRP became alert and after checking all the information from the informer, and then started waiting for the train to reach Bilaspur railway station. As the train reached the railway station, both the security departments of the railways prepared to nab the accused in a planned manner.
There was information about the presence of both the accused in the general coach. However, the platform, waiting hall, and passenger premises were also checked at the Bilaspur railway station. When the officials reached the general coach, two suspicious persons were interrogated. They were carrying a trolley bag and a backpack, which was heavy. On general inquiry, one of them told his name was Vinay Singh (50), a resident of the Navinagar police station area, Aurangabad. The English liquor was found in a purple colored trolley bag kept near him.
The other one told his name was Upendra Singh (50). He is a resident of Subhash Nagar Nahar Para Mahasamund. A large quantity of liquor was also seized from a trolley bag that he was carrying. On this, both the accused were arrested along with liquor and brought to the GRP police station. A case was regered on both of them under Section 34 (2) of the Excise Act. Further investigations are on the GRP and RPF officials.
