CG Forest Department Seized Teak Worth Rs.3 Lakhs

The forest department team today seized teak chiran worth Rs. 3 Lakhs.Forest produce furniture has now been brought to Kapsi depot.Earlier in August, the Forest Department had caught the Deputy Director smuggling teak wood in Pushpa stle.

Kanker: The forest department team today seized teak chiran worth Rs. 3 Lakhs in three houses of Partapur of Pakhanjur Forest area. The forest department had conducted a search operation in area Kapasi based on the information received from an informer.
The department has recovered a large number of illegal teak chiran and the furniture carved out of the same has been confiscated. Forest produce furniture has now been brought to Kapsi depot. In total 59 teak chiran, 1.482 cubic meter, 1 teak log 0.55 cubic meter, and 5 furniture items made from 1 cubic meter wood was found. The total estimated value reported is Rs 3 lakhs.
While one cubic foot of teak costs roughly Rs. 5000 on the market, the smuggled ones costs even more attracting more clients. Teak wood is the wood mostly used for furniture and woodwork in residences.
Earlier in August, the Forest Department had caught the Deputy Director of Veterinary Department Lallan Singh smuggling teak wood in Bijapur. The main thing witnessed here was that the crime had taken place in ‘Pushpa’ style. The Deputy Director was driving the ambulance himself, carrying the teak wood.
