‘Mai hota toh out tha’: Virat Kohli on Travis Head’s narrow escape, umpire Nitin Menon agrees
In an interesting conversation between Virat Kohli and umpire Nitin Menon, the former Indian skipper was heard saying, “Mai hota toh out tha,” during Day 5 of the fourth and final Test in Ahmedabad.
The incident took place just before the Lunch when R Ashwin bowled the fourth delivery of his 14th over to Travis Head. The batter was hit on the front foot and was a long stride as well. The ball-tracker showed the ball wouldn’t have turned much. And hence it was just clipping the sticks. Head survived a close call.
Reacting to the same, Kohli’s response came in Hindi and was directed at the field umpire Menon who smiled and nodded raising his finger. The video of the clip has gone viral.

Ashwin was confident about his appeal as Rohit said it hit the pads and they went up for a review. The ball landed on the middle and leg, Head tried to play forward and missed the line. The UltraEdge confirmed that no bat was involved and It was just clipping the sticks and the original call stood.
Meanwhile, Travis Head (90) and Marnus Labuschagne’s (51*) pair took Australia to 153/2 in 59.1 overs to lead Australia’s bid to force a draw against India in Ahmedabad on Monday. Australia lost nightwatchman Matt Kuhnemann en route to 73 for one at lunch, still 18 behind India, who are 2-1 ahead in the series.
