Woman Naxalite Gunned Down In Kanker
Kanker: A woman Naxalite was killed in a gun battle with security personnel in the forests of Chhattisgarh’s Kanker drict. As the gunfight took place when security personnel was out on an anti-Naxalite operation, personnel from Drict Reserve Guard (DRG) and the 132nd Battalion on Border Security Force (BSF) were involved in the operation.
Sources reveal that Inspector General of Police (Bastar range) Sundarraj P said that the gunfight took place in the morning in the forest area of Binagunda village under Chhotebethiya Police Station limits when the security personnel was out on an anti-naxalite operation.
“The operation was launched on Sunday based on inputs about the presence of Naxalite leaders belonging to the Rajnandgaon-Kanker border division (RKB) and 20 to 25 armed cadres. Personnel form DRG and 132nd Battalion of BSF were involved in the operation”, said IG.
Last month, two persons were arrested in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur with Rs. 6 lakhs in Rs 2000 notes allegedly belonging to a Naxalite commander. This came after RBO had announced withdrawal of Rs 2000 notes from circulation, asking people to deposit or exchange them until September 30.
