On the first day of the 2019-20 academic session, the Uttar Pradesh government announced the dates of UP Secondary Board and university examinations in 2020.
While High School and Intermediate examinations of UP Board will start from February 18, 2020, annual university examinations will start from March 5, 2020.
The announcement was made by Deputy Chief Minister Dr Dinesh Sharma, who heads the Education department, on Monday.
The government also announced that High School examinations would be conducted in 12 days and those of Intermediate in 15 days. Earlier it used to take between 21 days and 1 month to complete these examinations.
The results of UP Board examinations are expected to be announced between April 20 and 25, 2020.
“After fixing the examination schedule, we have also fixed the time table for teachers to teach chapters in particular time frame so that courses are completed within stipulated time. Now everything will be available on the official website vis-a-vis timetable of the courses,” he said.
Dr Sharma said that this session, around 55 lakh students were expected to appear in the UP Board exams which would be cheating-free like the previous session.
The Deputy Chief Minister also announced that regular classes in the universities would start from July 10. He said that annual examinations of state universities would commence from March 5 and end on April 25 while results would be announced by June 5.
Besides, he said, all semester exams would end by May 18, 2020.
Dr Sharma said that appointments were being made in large numbers to end shortage of teachers.
He said that during the short tenure of Bharatiya Janata Paarty government in UP, 205 new colleges had been opened in the state.
