BJP govt misleading people: Akhilesh

Former Chief Minister and Samajwadi Party national president Akhilesh Yadav said that the Bharatiya Janata Party government was misleading the people as it had failed to fulfill the promises the ruling party made to the masses during the election campaign.

“The BJP leaders had promised piped water to the people of Bundelkhand but the government has failed to provide the same. Similarly, the government had promised to clean the Ganga river under Namami Gange project but the water of the mighty river is still polluted,” Yadav said in a statement issued here on Thursday.

He said during Samajwadi Party regime, a concerted effort was made to re-charge ground water in Bundelkhand by digging new ponds or renovating water bodies. New trees were also planted.

“The BJP regime has done nothing to continue that effort. The result is that the ponds have dried up,” he said.

Yadav was reacting to a statement of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath that piped water would be provided to the people in Bundelkhand by 2022.

“This statement of the Chief Minister is another promise which the BJP government will not to fulfill. Water will not reach people’s houses only through statements. The government should show the work plan, which incidentally the Chief Minister has failed to spell out in his meeting with Union Water Resources Minister,” the SP chief said.
