CM: Saharanpur on path of speedy development
Claiming that Saharanpur had now taken the path of speedy development, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that abrogation of Article 370 granting special status to Jammu and Kashmir and strict law against instant triple talaq had given a new dimension to the country’s development agenda.
“Law against triple talaq has not only ended the harassment of Muslim women but has also given a new identity to them for their all-round development. Besides, abrogation of Article 370 will set a new milestone in the development of Jammu and Kashmir,” he said.
Addressing a large gathering at Gangoh in Saharanpur on Friday after laying the foundation stones of projects worth over Rs 450 crore and distributing certificates of welfare schemes to the beneficiaries, the Chief Minister said that Saharanpur had now adopted the path of nationalism and it would give a new identity to the area with all-round development.
“A new airport is coming up in the district and it will decrease the distances between Saharanpur and Delhi and Lucknow,” he said.
The Chief Minister said the government was taking steps to provide a global identity to the Nakkashi Bazaar in Saharanpur in order to promote woodwork of the district.
“Saharanpur has benefited a lot from the ‘One District, One Product’ scheme and today the wood carving work of the district is popular world-wide and has given this place a new identity,” he said.
Highlighting the welfare measures taken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Yogi Adityanath said Prime Minister Modi abrogated Article 370 granting special status to Jammu and Kashmir for creating ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat’.
“Muslim women are getting an opportunity to live a respectful life with the enactment of law against triple talaq. Toilets have been constructed under the Swachh Bharat Mission in every needy household, specially for the benefit of women,” he said.
In a scathing attack on Samajwadi Party, the Chief Minister said everyone knows what the situation was around two-and-half years back. “Riots took place here during Samajwadi Party regime, but now Uttar Pradesh will not have another ‘Kairana’. A PAC battalion will be established in Kairana,” he said.
“Now criminals are afraid of the government. No riots have taken place in the state in the last two-and-half years. All festivals are celebrated in peace and there is no restriction on celebrating any festival, whether it is Kanwar Yatra, or any other occasion,” he said.
The Chief Minister said in 2017, when Bharatiya Janata Party formed the government in UP, anarchy prevailed in the state. “Illegal slaughterhouses were functioning across the state but the state government decided to close them within 24 hours,” he said.
“In a move to protect cows, the state government has decided to open cow shelters for stray cattle and funds have been made available to every district in this regard. Farmers who rear cattle will be given Rs 900,” the Chief Minister said, adding that his government would not allow cow slaughter at any cost.
Referring to the welfare schemes of the Central and the state governments, the Chief Minister said they were implemented in the state without any discrimination. He said during the regimes of Samajwadi Party and Bahujan Samaj Party, there were anomalies in recruitment process and people of one community used to get jobs, but this was not happening today. “We have provided around 2.25 lakh jobs without any discrimination in the last two-and-half years,” Yogi Adityanath said.
Claiming that the BJP slogan of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’ was followed in both letter and spirit in the region, the Chief Minister said there was no discrimination in connecting welfare schemes with the people.
Giving the status of sugar mills, Yogi Adityanath said, “The distillery of Nanota Sugar Mill will be operational soon. Besides, the plan to start Bidvi Sugar Mill is in process. During the tenure of Samajwadi Party, the cane payments were outstanding for five years but we paid arrears of Rs 73,000 crore.”
The Chief Minister said that very soon a new state-level university would come up in Saharanpur for which land was being identified.
Several UP ministers and local MPs and MLAs were present in the programme.
