Assam remained in grip of insurgency because of faulty Cong policies: Yogi
Attacking the Congress for its negative politics, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that because of the faulty policies of the Congress leaders, Assam remained in the grip of insurgency for a long time for which its people had to bear the brunt for no fault of theirs.
Launching a scathing attack on the Congress and the AIUDF (All India United Democratic Front), Yogi Adityanath said that this land belongs to Shankardev, who was the torchbearer of the neo-Vaishnavite movement in Assam. He said this land had been saved only because of Shankardev, the hero of India’s nationalism, otherwise Assam could not have survived due to intruders who were supported by the Congress.
“The Narendra Modi government is working for the overall development of North East India. The government has implemented the policy of Look East and Act East. As a result of this, the public representatives have worked continuously to review the development plans in the northeast,” Yogi said.
Ahead of the assembly elections 2021, Yogi Adityanath addressed three public rallies at Hojai, Kalaigaon and Rangiya assembly constituencies in Assam on Wednesday.
Lauding Bharatiya Janata Party’s work in Assam, the UP chief minister said in the last six years, the government had done no discrimination and the people were reaping the benefits of schemes like Kisan Nidhi, PM Housing, Ayushman Bharat and other schemes.
“A double-engine government is necessary for the development of the state as it will usher in more progress in the region,” he said.
Yogi said the Modi government enacted a law against triple talaq and conducted a surgical strike inside Pakistan in a reply to the terror attacks that took place in Uri and Pulwama. “This has given the public confidence that the nation’s borders are safe under the Modi government,” he said.
Yogi offered prayers at the historic Kamakhya temple before leaving for his election rallies.
He said, “It is really nice to hear the people chanting Jai Shree Ram in Assam. It shows a gesture of etiquette and is a matter of pride.”
Yogi said the people of Assam had to face the wrath of floods every year. He said to make the state flood-free in the next five years, the Central government and the Government of Assam were working together and preparing an action plan in this regard.
Yogi, while addressing the rallies, also expressed grief at the sudden demise of BJP’s senior politician Dilip Gandhi and BJP MP Ram Swaroop Sharma.
It is worth mentioning here that Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has ordered to set up a medical college in the Hojai assembly constituency.
Assam will witness a three-phased poll from March 27 to April 6. The results will be announced on May 2.
