Raipur to get new cremation grounds for Covid patients
The Raipur district administration in Chhattisgarh has asked officials to identify new cremation grounds exclusively for performing last rites of people who died due to Covid-19. District Collector Dr S. Bharathi Dasan and District Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Gaurav Singh instructed their officers to identify the cremation grounds, a press release said on Monday. The officers of Revenue and Health departments as well as the civic bodies were told to identify new cremation grounds in every 8-10 villages to receive bodies of only Covid patients. The body of the deceased should be brought to the crematorium with proper security, the district administration said. The Collector also sought identification of places in the village panchayats to set up new isolation/quarantine centres. Relatives assisting the patients at such centres will be allowed to provide home-made food, the officer said.
