Spat between Baghel, Raman over pandemic
Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Friday made a scathing attack on his predecessor Raman Singh and alleged that he and the BJP are spreading lies over the grim Covid-19 pandemic in the state.
The war of words erupted between Baghel and Raman Singh after the latter accused the Chief Minister of failing to take steps to battle Covid and instead being bogged down by the Assam elections. Baghel has hosted Assam leaders who were seen consuming alcohol in a government rest house in Bastar.
Countering it, Baghel said it was untrue that the condition of the pandemic was uncontrollable in the state.
“Raman must cite figures and then say anything about the condition of the pandemic in the state”, he said, adding that the situation in Chhattisgarh was much better that many of the BJP-ruled states.
Baghel advised Raman Singh not to do politics at a time when the infection has taken alarming proportions.
He said all possible steps were been taken to contain the virus. The state is far ahead in testing and the vaccination drive in the entire country.
Baghel also mocked at Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal to observe a ‘Tika Utsav’ and said the people had stopped listening to Modi and the ‘Utsav’ was a complete failure.
