Will open medical college in each district: CM

A medical college will be opened in every district in Chhattisgarh, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said on Sunday, adding the earlier plan was to open one in each Lok Sabha constituency.

Chhattisgarh has one doctor for 7,000 persons compared to Karnataka where one doctor serves some 1,700 persons.

Therefore, a decision has been taken to build medical colleges in each district, Baghel told media persons here.

He said medical colleges have been opened in the districts of Korba, Kanker, Mahasamund and Durg. Preparations are on to open a medical college in Bemetara and Janjgir.

He said the migration of people from the State in search of jobs in other States should stop. This is why agro-based food processing units at the local level are being emphasised.

Criticising the Central laws on agriculture, he said all the mandis have been closed due to which farmers are unable to sell their produce. The limit of stock has been waived off due to which any trader can keep the stock of foodgrain more than his requirement.
