New Delhi: Lashing out at the Centre for asking the States to reduce VAT on fuel, THe CG chief Miner, Bhupesh Baghel on Wednesday refuted the PMs statement. Baghel cited that only 24 per cent VAT- the lowest was levied on fuel in CG while other states’ VAT slab ranged between 29 per cent to 31 per cent. He further went on to toll the Centre claiming the blatant rise in LPG was purely an attempt the centre. He demanded the centre to scrap the Cess on petrol and diesel across the country. The CM held the BJP ruled centre responsible for the rising prices of petrol and diesel.
” We did not get our tighful share because of the Cess imposed your governemnt”, Baghel said. In the form of cess you take your share at 11.4 percent from the state while the state should get around 30 thousand crores.
The remarks came as PM Modi on Wednesday chairing a COVID review meeting, called the opposition led states to reduce VAT on petrol and diesel. The meeting was held in view of the uptick in COVID-19 cases across the national capital and neighbouting states. CM’s of all states attended the meeting through video conferencing and discussed several other issues.
