Khairagarh to be developed as art capital of C’garh: CM

Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has announced that newly formed Khairagarh district will be developed as the art capital of Chhattisgarh.

He said this while inaugurating a three-day Khairagarh festival in Khairagarh-Chhuikhadan-Gandai district late on Wednesday.

He underlined the need to make a study centre for art and music in Bastar, Surguja, Raigarh and Raipur. A provision for this will be made in the state budget.

On the occasion, he also performed bhoomi pujan of development works worth Rs 6 crore and also returned an amount of Rs 1.57 crore to 17,127 investors of Rajnandgaon district duped by chit fund companies.

The Chief Minister inaugurated nine Swami Atmanand English Medium Schools in Rajnandgaon district.

Addressing the gathering, he said Chhattisgarh was known for its prosperity and there was a need to promote and preserve the rich historical culture, civilization and art of the state on the global stage.

He said that many ancient remains have been found from the excavation of Tarighat Rewaghat which display the rich culture of the state.
