Agri Export Policy to boost exports: Yogi
Claiming that Uttar Pradesh had the potential and resources to feed the whole world, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said the state government would facilitate export of crops through Agri Export Policy to take the state into a $1 trillion economy.
Inaugurating the 26th annual workshop of agricultural scientists, organised at Acharya Narendra Dev Agriculture University in Ayodhya on Monday, Yogi said if the state could made optimal use of its fertile land and water resources, it had the potential to feed the whole world.
“We have a lot of potential for production of pulses and oilseeds and if we continue doing so, we can make India self-reliant. Thus, we will be able to save huge foreign reserves being spent on importing pulses,” he said.
Yogi said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi wanted to make Indian economy worth $5 trillion. “It is the responsibility of 130 crore citizens of the country to contribute toward the Prime Minister’s resolve. The state government is also making efforts to make UP a 1 trillion dollar economy,” he said.
The Chief Minister said that the onus to increase productivity lay with agriculture science centres. “This government is committed to improving the network of these centres. Land has already been provided to most of the 20 new agricultural science centres,” he said.
Talking about farmers, Yogi said, “The PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana was bringing comprehensive change in the lives of farmers.”
The Chief Minister further said that in order to double the income of farmers by 2022, the Prime Minister had launched schemes like Soil Health Card, PM Agricultural Irrigation, PM Crop Insurance and had increased the minimum support price (MSP) of crops that was pending for decades.
He also said that the Prime Minister’s vision of making agriculture a centre of new innovation, was taking shape.
Minister of State for Agriculture Ranvendra Pratap Singh, Vice-Chancellor of Acharya Narendra Dev Agricultural University, Prof JS Sandhu, Principal Secretary (Agriculture) Amit Mohan and Deputy Director General of ICAR, Dr AK Singh, were also present on this occasion.
Earlier, the Chief Minister reached Ayodhya from Lucknow and went to Narendra garden and offered floral tributes to Acharya Narendra Dev.
He also laid the foundation stone of a 100 students capacity hostel from the auditorium of Agriculture Business Management University. The Chief Minister also inaugurated Vice-Chancellor Prof JS Sandhu’s dream project — a solar system of 750-kilowatt capacity installed on the main campus of the university.
