Akhilesh moves into new house
A year after vacating his official bungalow on Vikramaditya Marg in June 2018 following a Supreme Court order, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Thursday shifted to his sprawling private bungalow on Vikramaditya Marg.
The 23,000 square feet bungalow is located right behind the Chief Minister’s official residence on Kalidas Marg in the state capital.
Akhilesh had earlier planned to construct a hotel on this land but the idea was dropped after the proposal was rejected by Lucknow Development Authority for security reasons.
The shifting to the new bungalow was a low-key affair as the Samajwadi Party suffered a crushing defeat in the recent Lok Sabha polls.
Akhilesh Yadav and his wife Dimple Yadav, who lost the election in Kannauj to Bharatiya Janata Party candidate, performed the grih pravesh ceremony. Party workers later gathered there in large numbers and sweets were distributed.
After a Supreme Court order last year, former chief ministers of UP Akhilesh Yadav, his father Mulayam Singh, Kalyan Singh, Mayawati and Rajnath Singh had to vacate their official accommodation.
After vacating the official bungalow in June last year, Akhilesh Yadav had shifted to a villa in a township on Sultanpur Road. Mulayam Singh Yadav also shifted to a separate villa in the same colony.
