Ambikapur airport renovation begins courtesy : CM
Taking another step towards improving air connectivity in northern Chhattisgarh, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Tuesday performed bhumi pujan for renovation work of the Maa Mahamaya Airport at Ambikapur.
After inaugurating the renovation work worth Rs 44 crores, Baghel said that the start of air services in Sarguja will expedite the development of Ambikapur, Balrampur, Surajpur, Koriya and Jashpur districts.
In a virtual programme held here, Baghel unveiled 302 works worth Rs 324.42 crores for Surguja and Balrampur-Ramanujganj districts, an official communication said.
He said the air services will boost tourism in entire Chhattisgarh while journeying from Ambikapur to Raipur and Benaras (Uttar Pradesh) will become easy.
Air service from Bilaspur to Prayagraj, Delhi and Jabalpur has started, he said. Similarly, there are regular flights from Jagdalpur to Hyderabad and Raipur.
Referring to the Ram Van Gaman Tourism Circuit Development Scheme, he said a day will come when people from across the country and abroad will visit Chhattisgarh to see the Gauthan. He used the occasion to warn people to be vigilant vis-a-vis Covid-19 which he said had not gone away but only abated.
