Anganwadis should be empowered health centres: CM
Speical attention needs to be paid to the health and nutrition of women and children, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said on Wednesday.
He stated this while reviewing the activities of the Women and Child Development Department here.
Baghel said that for Chhattisgarh to be healthy and well-nourished, it is necessary that Anganwadis should develop into empowered centers of health and nutrition for women and children.
He called for implementation of the plan to develop 10,000 Anganwadi centers as model centers in the first phase, an official communication said.
Baghel wanted effective implementation of the Mukhyamantri Suposhan Abhiyan as well as close monitoring of the quality of ready-to-eat and distribution system. A discussion was held on filling up of vacant posts of Anganwadi workers and assistants. The meeting was told that 52,474 Anganwadi centers are operating in the state, out of which 3,000 have been developed as model and nursery schools. This year, 10,000 centers are planned to be developed as model centres.
