Baghel announces govt jobs for Special Backward Tribes
In a major move, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Sunday announced that government jobs will be given to all eligible youths of Special Backward Tribes in Chhattisgarh.
He made the declaration after a Pahari Korwa young woman, Sanju Paharia, demanded work during his public interaction in Bagicha block in Jashpur district.
Sanju told the Chief Minister that she had passed the Master of Science in zoology and had also done a Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Application but was jobless.
Responding, Baghel assured her that a government job will be arranged for her and other eligible candidates of the community.
A total of seven tribal communities in Chhattisgarh come under the category of Special Backward Tribe.
The Union government had given the status to five tribal communities in Chhattisgarh including Abujhmadia, Kamar, Baiga, Birhor and Pahari Korwa. Pando and Bhunjia tribes have been included in the list by the Chhattisgarh government.
As per government records, a total of 9,623 eligible youths of these communities are enrolled with employment exchanges in the state and all of them would get jobs, the Chief Minister said.
An annual burden of Rs 346.43 crore will be incurred on the exchequer for giving jobs to this community, an official statement said.
