Baghel on accelerating eco growth with SDGs
Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Sunday held a discussion with experts from the Netherlands and the US on possibilities of accelerating economic growth with the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.
Vikas Mehta (US), CEO SED Fund, Dr. Kartikeya Singh (Netherlands), Deputy Director, SED Fund, and Ritvika Bhattacharya, CEO, Swaniti Initiative, called on the Chief Minister here.
The advisor to the Chief Minister and Vice Chairman of the Chhattisgarh Green Council, Pradeep Sharma, was also present.
The discussion revolved around the prospects of establishing new industries on the lines of sustainable development goals. This would help eliminate the ill effects of climate change.
The Chief Minister briefed about the steps undertaken to strengthen the rural economy in Chhattisgarh. He pointed out that Godhan Nyay Yojana had been instrumental in converting cow dung into vermi-compost and other products.
The conversion of Gauthans as Rural Industrial Parks was aimed at protecting the environment.
He added that electricity generation and paint making was also being started from cow dung. All these activities have opened new opportunities of employment and income to the villagers, especially women.
