Horticulture, Agriculture, and Revenue officers to assess areas that recorded scanty rainfall in Sarguja. A response to the prevailing conditions will be prepared based on inputs from villagers and Patwari. Three tribal-dominated dricts such as Balrampur, Jashpur and Ambikapur received scanty rainfall so far.
Raipur: Two days after the opposition took a jibe at the Baghel govt over a letter written Congress MLA to CM highlighting the drought-like situation in Sarguja, Baghel has directed officials to carry out an assessment of the areas in the areas that received scanty rainfall this monsoon season.
As instructed Revenue, Horticulture and Agriculture officers would carry out the assessment after extracting information from the villagers and patwari on the rainfall and problems related to it.
Congress Legislators on 31st July wrote to CM Baghel informing him about the situations prevailing in the Sarguja drict. In the letter, MLA Brihaspath Singh had demanded the chief to declare three tribal-dominated dricts such as Balrampur, Jashpur and Ambikapur as drought-hit regions as they received scanty rainfall. He further demanded compensation for the crop loss, employment-oriented work and relief work for the people of these three dricts.
