BJP has double standards on farmers issue: Cong
The ruling Congress in Chhattisgarh on Monday accused the BJP of having double standards vis-a-vis the farmers and threatened to expose the latter.
In spite of all hindrances, the Chhattisgarh government has released the fourth instalment of the Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana, Raipur City District Congress President Girish Dubey said.
Addressing the media, he said the BJP-led Central government created hurdles from all quarters for the state but Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel successfully transferred the money due to the farmers.
In the new fiscal year budget, an allocation of Rs 5,700 crores has been made for the scheme. Despite pressures from the Centre, the scheme will continue, Dubey said.
The BJP was now demanding interest for the delayed payment to the farmers, he said. But these BJP leaders are not ready to speak in favour of the state farmers to the Centre.
Dubey said the Centre’s failure to buy adequate quantity of rice to the central pool forced the farmers in Chhattisgarh to sell their produce at a lower price in auction.
