BJP leaders dare C’garh Police to arrest them

Dubbing them a gimmick, the Congress on Monday described the BJP protests outside police stations as an attempt to divert attention from the seriousness of the crime committed by it in the ‘Toolkit’ issue.

PCC Communication Wing Chairman Shailesh Daring the Chhattisgarh Police to arrest them over a ‘Toolkit’ denounced by Twitter, BJP leaders on Monday staged sit-in at police stations in block and district headquarters across the state.

Senior BJP leaders including former Chief Minister Raman Singh, state BJP chief Vishnu Deo Sai, Leader of Opposition Dharamlal Kaushik, Brijmohan Agrawal and Rajesh Munat protested at the Civil Lines police station. Raipur MP Sunil Soni staged a protest at the Kotwali police station here. Raman Singh told the media that the Congress used a Toolkit to defame Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Union government and had now filed FIRs to suppress the BJP’s voice.

“There is no basis in the allegations in the FIR and we will approach the court to get it quashed”, the former CM said.The Civil Lines police station, on a complaint by NSUI Chhattisgarh chief Akash Shama, registered a case against Raman Singh and BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra under sections 504, 505 (1) a, b, 469 and 188 of IPC. Raman Singh, accused of sharing a forged letterhead of the Congress on his social media handle, was questioned by the police on Monday after the sit-in.Nitin Trivedi said former Chief Minister Raman Singh is trying to protect himself using the party as a shield.

He said it has been proved by Twitter and media houses that the tweet shared by Raman Singh was a ‘manipulated media’. The documents of the Congress were forged and fabricated and were shared by BJP leaders, he said.

“The demonstrations cannot hide the truth. A wrong will always be a wrong,” he said.
