BJP meet is not about Bastar but power: Cong
The BJP’s three-day ‘Chintan Shivir’ which began in Jagdalpur in Chhattisgarh on Tuesday has nothing to do with tribal welfare in Bastar but is all about hunger for power, Pradesh Congress Committee President Mohan Markam said.
Markam said in a statement that the BJP never cared for the sprawling tribal-dominated Bastar region.
During its 15 years in government, the BJP never worked to eradicate malaria, malnutrition and unemployment or fight poverty in the region.
Although 32 percent tribal population depends on forest minor produce for livelihood, the erstwhile BJP government did not show any concern for them.
Now that Bastar is developing thanks to Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, the BJP leaders have arisen from their slumber and are pretending to be concerned about Bastar, he said.
