BJP raises concern over cybercrime
Bharatiya Janata Party members on Tuesday raised concern over the rising number of cybercrimes which defrauded people of their earnings across Chhattisgarh.
The government said it was taking all measures to detect and prosecute the cyber criminals apart from empowering the police to stamp it out.
Raising the issue through a call attention motion on the second day of the budget session, BJP’s Ranjana Dipendra Sahu pointed out that across the state several cybercrimes have been reported.
People fall into the trap of such criminals. They are duped of their hard-earned money or savings. She said even after people have lost crores, the state government has not come up with any steps or plan to control it.
Home Minister Tamradhwaj Sahu said the Home Department is highly sensitive to the issue. These criminals work at both the national and international levels using social media and other platforms to lure the gullible.
Of the 24 cases highlighted by members, he said in seven cases the criminals have been arrested and two cases were before the court.
