BJP seeks Agriculture Minister’s resignation
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BP) on Tuesday sought the resignation of Chhattisgarh Agriculture Minister Ravindra Choubey for not fixing a date for paddy procurement at minimum support price and a possible shortage of gunny bags.
The state government is trying to create an atmosphere of uncertainty in the minds of the farmers by not announcing the date of procurement, BJP State President Vishnudeo Sai said in a statement.
Even after holding a cabinet sub-committee meeting on procurement, no date has been announced, Sai said. Therefore, the Agriculture Minister should step down.
Choubey on Monday announced a target of procuring 105 lakh tonnes of paddy in the state in the current year.
