BJP seeks probe into death of children
The BJP on Wednesday sought a detailed probe into the death of new-borns at the Pandri District Hospital. Authorities said only two, not seven, infants had died and due to different reasons.
Leader of Opposition Dharamlal Kaushik said in a statement that seven infants died on Tuesday at the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).
He alleged that the hospital was trying to cover up the deaths. He said a committee should probe the incident.
Denying the death of seven infants in NICU, the Hospital administration said two new-borns died: Baby of Kesari Dheemar (Durg) and an infant daughter of Janaki Sinha (Raipur).
A hospital statement quoted the families as claiming that lack of oxygen was the reason for the death. But during the incident, seven children were on ventilators and 15 were on oxygen support. None of these infants had died.
Baby of Kesari Dheemar was admitted on July 18 at 1.00 pm and his weight was just 1.4 kg and was in a ventilator. The death was reported on Tuesday at 6.30 pm.
Janaki Sinha was referred from the Mana health centre and admitted on Monday at 7.45 am and a male was born. After birth, the child did not cry. He was shifted to NICU and he died on July 20 evening.
The family members called the media and started to create a ruckus in the hospital.
