BJP trying to rob livelihood of farmers: Shakti Gohil
Hitting out at the BJP over the three controversial farm laws, senior Congress leader Shakti Singh Gohil on Friday accused the Modi government of trying to rob the livelihood of farmers with anti-farmer steps.
Addressing the media here, Gohil, on a tour of Chhattisgarh, said the BJP government waived loans worth Rs 10 lakh crores of big corporates but refused to extend the same courtesy to farmers.
Citing the Lakhimpur-Kheri incident in Uttar Pradesh where four farmers were killed, Gohil said the famers were protesting against the farm laws which will doom their future.
The “son of a BJP leader and Union Minister mowed down the four farmers and no action has been taken against him”, Gohil said.
He praised Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, who was present at the presser, for going to Uttar Pradesh and sharing the pain of the distraught families of the dead farmers.
During his election campaign, Prime Minister Narendra Modi promised to provide 2 crore jobs each year but it was unfortunate that 14 crores had become jobless in the past few years, Gohil said.
